Off to Hall Beach

Posted on

Part of #teamwater flew to Hall Beach on June 4th to engage with the community on topics related to water security.

The small community was very friendly and eager to talk about water. We learned that people are collecting ice to melt and drink from lakes, the ocean, and even from permafrost that builds up under running water. They often make what has been described to be an “amazing tasting” tea from lake ice. The water from melted ice has a “crisp” taste to it due to natural levels of ammonia. Meltwater that sits in crystal blue pools atop ocean ice is also a favourite source.
